Why Elect Kay
Experienced and Committed
During her first term as Trustee, Kay learned a lot about Helena Public Schools. She’s up to speed and ready to work productively with fellow Trustees on all that is happening in our district. As Trustee, she has served on these committees: Facilities and Technology, Budget and Finance, Health Benefits, and Teaching and Learning.

Kay’s 30+ year career as a Carroll professor gave her a deep appreciation of the hard work of being a teacher and the value of learning. She remains interested in all issues related to teaching and learning, whether that involves teaching methods, curricula and standards, facilities, technology, district policies, or state laws.
A Good Fit
Kay enjoys collaborative problem solving and decision making. She knows that necessary decisions will not be perfect, but they can still be good. She listens, asks questions, seeks out alternative perspectives, analyzes, and stays positive. From years of teaching and committee work, she has learned how to have honest discussions about contentious topics. Kay’s knowledge, skills, and temperament makes her a good fit for the role of trustee.
Homegrown and Grateful
Kay and her three children are all graduates of Helena Public Schools. As Trustee, she has enjoyed visiting classrooms and PTO meetings, hearing about special projects and achievements at HPS board meetings, and touring schools. As she learns more about our district, she feels ever more grateful to the educators, trustees, parents, and other community members who’ve created and now keep high-quality education a reality in our public schools. She hopes to continue putting that gratitude into action in another term as HPS Trustee.
